Title: New Blood
Curiosity was the impetus for this piece. What does the retrovirus that causes AIDS look like? Who could imagine how such a tiny, beautiful organism carried within itself the ability to destroy so many millions of lives.
Ignorance and misunderstanding throughout the world cause victims of AIDS to be shunned and vilified. Governments have been slow to respond with anti viral drugs. The Stephen Lewis Foundation, however, supports programs that are making a difference in the lives of people touched by HIV/AIDS. And this is helping to turn the tide on this deadly foe – by taking one step at a time to protect a child, to educate a family or to provide a treatment
