Crafts and Products

Many Glacier Grannies enjoy making crafts and products (see photo gallery) that are sold at Comox Valley craft fairs and events. Others enjoy selling our products at the craft booths.

Most supplies are donated, so nearly all the funds raised go to the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Exec an angels

Angel makers preparing angel bodies.


In 2006 Dave Talbot started our angel making group after seeing angels made by a Victoria group. From 2006 to 2015 our group sold more than 6,000 angels. Each angel is hand made, unique and is given a traditional African name in memory of a child who has died of AIDS.

The angel makers meet at the Comox United Church, Beach Drive. Comox from 1:00 to 3:00 on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from September to June. For more information contact Gail at 250 339-4968 or Jenny at 250 871-0553 We take special orders, usually using jewelry or fabrics of sentimental significance. The price for each angel is $10 and any additional donation is welcome.

CRAFT WISH LIST

We have compiled a wish list of the various things we need. Thank you for supporting us.

  • Batting – 100% cotton (no polyester please), or wool
  • Buttons – large light weight
  • Christmas – ornaments, decorations (small), fabrics (cotton), ribbons, green twine
  • Fabrics - Themes: African (colour/design), Children’s 5-8 (not baby), Christmas, or any 100% cotton
  • Fabrics – Silk – sarongs or scarves
  • Iron-on backing
  • Jewelry for angels – colourful, small and medium sized, earrings (esp. dangling, can be single)
  • Plastic totes with lids, large, and file box sizes
  • Ribbon – all colours, decorative, wide or narrow
  • Shadow box frames
  • Thread 100% cotton – all colours
  • Wool - raw fleece, sheepskin bed toppers, garments (coats, sweaters etc.), wool batting
  • Yarns - wool, fancy synthetics, textured, Bernat Boucle in black or grey.
