On May 15, 2011 Grandmother groups across the country organized walked in support of the courageous and resilient grandmothers of Africa.
Six Glacier Grannies joined a walk in Campbell River. The weather was overcast but not raining, and the Campbell River Grandmother to Grandmother Group organized a wonderful day.
After enjoying the rousing music, and swaying to the beat, the walkers listened to speeches from several Canadian grandmothers who had visited Africa and seen African grandmothers in action.
The walkers were left with a strong feeling of solidarity, both with each other and with their sister-grandmothers in Africa.

The beautiful “Turning the Tide” Textile Art for Africa Exhibition had its final showing in the Comox Valley!
The artwork never looked as good as it did in the setting and lights of the Pearl Ellis Gallery. Many people visiting the show had seen it last year in Courtenay and were coming back to enjoy it again. Others, seeing it for the first time, were amazed by the creativity, the workmanship and the stories behind the pieces.
